OUR AIMS
It is our aim to provide a supportive, secure and stimulating learning environment within which each child has the opportunity to reach its full potential in academic, creative, physical and moral areas. At the same time we aim to prepare our students for the experiences, opportunities and responsibilities of adult life and to develop in them a full appreciation for the quality of both natural and man made environments. PrimaryPhilosophy

In practice this means we strive to give our students as thorough a grounding as possible in the subjects we offer, especially English and Maths, so that they can move smoothly to the secondary school of their choice, or transfer, as painlessly as possible, to another international primary school. Running parallel to this, we use projects and topics, supplemented with appropriate trips and visits, to broaden our students' experiences whilst encouraging them to seek information for themselves, rather than having it thrust upon them by their teachers.

OUR VALUES
As the whole curriculum is based on values, Elckerlyc International Stream feels that these values should be clear to all members of the school community: students, parents, teachers, management and board members. For a curriculum to succeed, it must be more than a programme. It must be a way of life, reflected in relationships between peers and between students and teachers, between teachers and parents and all school community members. It must show in classroom rules, discipline policies, and the models displayed by adults. It should influence decision making and all other forms of behaviour. We mentioned those values, we think are essential and practicable in our multi-cultural and multi-religious community. They should be the basis for clear rules of conduct. With school community ownership of those rules combined with a supportive environment satisfaction will result from complying with the norms.

A great deal of the success of a school relies on raising a child's self esteem. The whole school approach to behaviour, to personal responsibility, to respect for others and their values and opinions is paramount in helping a child to establish a positive self image.
